Advertising and Sponsorship Policy

MunchieCooking is supported in part by advertising, affiliate links, and occasional sponsored content. This page explains how we work with commercial partners, how we protect editorial independence, and how we disclose paid arrangements so readers can trust what they read.

Our Approach

Publishing careful, well-tested cooking content takes time. Advertising and affiliate revenue is what allows MunchieCooking to remain free to read and to fund the writers, testers, and editors behind the site. At the same time, we recognize that reader trust is what makes the site worth advertising against in the first place. We treat that trust as the most important thing we have, and we structure our commercial work to protect it.

The core rule: our editorial decisions are made independently of our commercial partners. No advertiser, sponsor, or affiliate program can buy coverage, influence how we rate a product, or change our conclusions in an article. Recommendations you read on MunchieCooking reflect what our writers and testers actually think, based on hands-on experience.

Types of Commercial Content

Display advertising

Most pages on MunchieCooking may include display advertisements served by third-party ad networks. These ads are clearly identifiable as ads and are separate from the article content. We work only with reputable ad networks that follow industry standards for ad safety, brand suitability, and privacy compliance. We do not accept ads that promote misleading products, adult content, or anything that would violate our editorial standards.

Affiliate links

Some articles include affiliate links to products or retailers — usually kitchen equipment, ingredients, or books mentioned in the recipe or guide. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, MunchieCooking may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not influence which products we cover or how we describe them. We include affiliate links only for products we have actually used or would recommend on their merits.

Sponsored content

MunchieCooking occasionally publishes sponsored posts — articles paid for by a brand — when the brand’s product or subject aligns with our editorial focus and we believe the content will be genuinely useful to readers. Every sponsored article is clearly labeled at the top with “Sponsored,” “In partnership with,” or similar language identifying the sponsor. The sponsor may suggest a topic, but the writing, testing, and editorial angle are ours. We reserve the right to decline sponsorships that do not meet our standards.

Product samples and press access

Writers may accept product samples for review purposes. Receiving a sample does not commit us to write positively — or to write at all. If a sampled product appears in an article, we disclose that we received it. We do not accept ongoing free products in exchange for favorable coverage.

Disclosure Standards

We follow the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Endorsement Guides and equivalent standards in other jurisdictions where they apply. Disclosures are placed prominently — at the top of the article or before the first affiliate link — in language readers can understand. Common disclosures include:

  • Sponsored articles: “Sponsored by [Brand]” or “This article was created in partnership with [Brand]” at the top of the post.
  • Affiliate links: A note near the beginning of any article containing affiliate links, plus link markup that indicates the affiliate relationship.
  • Sample disclosure: “The [product] was provided to us for review” or similar language when applicable.

If you ever encounter a case where you believe a disclosure is missing or unclear, please contact us and we will review it.

What We Do Not Accept

To keep the standard clear, MunchieCooking does not accept the following, regardless of payment:

  • Paid backlinks or “link insertions” into existing articles.
  • Guest posts submitted for SEO purposes rather than editorial value.
  • Rewrites of existing content to favor a specific product or brand.
  • Removal of unflattering coverage of a product in exchange for compensation.
  • Coverage that would materially mislead readers about a product’s actual performance, safety, or value.
