Privacy Policy

This policy covers munchiecooking.com and the email addresses we publish. It explains what personal data we handle, why, who else sees it, and how you make us stop. It does not cover other websites you reach through a link from here. Last updated September 2026.

The Short Version

We do not sell your data for money and we do not take payments, so we hold nothing financial.
Most of what we collect is the ordinary technical record every web server keeps.
The advertising that funds this site involves third-party cookies, which run only with your consent.
You can withdraw that consent at any time and still read everything.

What We Collect

Things You Send Us

Email. Your address, your message and any attachment, kept as a thread so we can answer it and refer back to it.
Comments. If you comment on a post, the platform stores the name and email you type in, the comment itself, the timestamp, your IP address and your browser identification string. Only the name and comment appear publicly.

Things Collected Automatically

One thing happens by itself when you open a page: the web server writes a line in its access log, as every web server does in order to answer a request. That line holds:

Your IP address, which indicates a country or region and nothing finer.
The date and time of the request.
The address of the page requested.
The referring page, when your browser sends one.
The response code the server returned.
The user agent string, which identifies the browser and the operating system.

That list is the whole of it, because it is simply the access log an ordinary web server writes. There is no measurement script on these pages. Nothing records how far you scroll, how long you keep an article open, where you click, the size of your screen or the order in which you read, and no identifier is created to link one visit of yours to another. We do not use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, there are no heat maps, no session replay and no A/B testing, and there is no newsletter or mailing list to be signed up to.

The log is read in aggregate, to see how many times an address was requested and to spot automated traffic. That is the extent of what we know about readership, and it does not build a profile of anyone.

Things Stored on Your Device

What we store ourselves is small: the technical cookies the caching layer needs, and the cookie holding your consent decision. Everything else, meaning third-party cookies, browser local storage, pixels and advertising identifiers, comes from the advertising partners and only runs once you have consented. Every category, purpose and lifetime is listed in the Cookie Policy.

Things We Deliberately Avoid

We do not ask for payment details, identity documents, precise GPS location, biometric data, or information about health, religion, politics, sex life or union membership. There is no reason for a cooking site to hold any of it, so please do not send it to us.

Why We Are Allowed To

The General Data Protection Regulation and its United Kingdom counterpart require a legal basis for each processing activity. Ours are:

Consent for the advertising and personalization cookies our partners set. Given through the consent banner, withdrawable at any moment, with no effect on your access to the site.
Legitimate interests for security, blocking fraudulent and automated traffic, reading the server access log in aggregate to see which addresses were requested, and answering messages you send us. We weigh these against your rights and drop the activity where yours come first.
Legal obligation where a valid legal requirement forces us to retain or disclose something.

Advertising: How This Site Is Paid For

MunchieCooking is free and is funded by the adverts on it. Those slots are sold programmatically, meaning technology partners bid for each one in real time as the page loads. They are sold by TheMoneytizer, and consent is collected by InMobi Choice, a consent management platform registered under the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.3).

To do that, partners may set and read cookies and identifiers so they can choose an advert, cap how often you see it, verify that it was actually on screen, and screen out invalid traffic. Where you have consented, they may also draw on interest categories inferred from browsing behavior.

Refusing consent does not remove advertising. It makes it contextual, matched to the subject of the page instead of to you. The live list of partners active on this site, with links to their own notices, is inside the consent tool in the site footer. Each of those companies decides independently what it does with data it collects, and we do not control that.

Who Else Receives Data

Hosting, content delivery and security services that deliver pages and filter hostile traffic.
Email providers carrying correspondence between us.
The consent management platform, which records your consent decision and passes it to the advertising partners.
Embedded media providers, where a post includes a video or similar element loaded from another domain.
Legal recipients, where a valid legal process requires disclosure or where it is needed to defend a legal claim.

We never exchange personal data for money. Even so, using advertising cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising counts as a sale or sharing under California law, and we treat it that way in the California section below rather than arguing about the definition.

Data Leaving Your Country

Our providers and advertising partners operate internationally, including in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on Standard Contractual Clauses with supplementary safeguards where those are needed.

How Long We Keep Things

Email threads: up to twenty-four months after the conversation ends.
Comments: as long as the comment is published. Ask and we will delete it along with the data attached to it.
Server access logs: rotated and deleted within a few weeks, the ordinary lifetime of a web server log.
Cookies: for the lifetime shown in the Cookie Policy, from a single session up to two years.
Aggregate statistics: kept indefinitely, since they identify nobody.

Rights in Europe and the United Kingdom

Access: a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification: correction of anything wrong or incomplete.
Erasure: deletion, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
Restriction: a pause on processing while a dispute is resolved.
Portability: data you gave us, in a machine-readable format.
Objection: to processing based on legitimate interests, and an absolute objection to direct marketing and related profiling.
Withdrawal of consent: at any time, without affecting what already happened lawfully.
Complaint: to your national supervisory authority, with no obligation to contact us first.

Email [email protected] to use any of these. We may ask for enough information to be sure the request is yours, and we use it for nothing else. Our deadline is one month, extendable by two more for genuinely complex requests, and we will explain any extension before the first month runs out.

Rights in California

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents may:

Learn which categories of personal information we collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third party that received it.
Request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we hold.
Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Request deletion, subject to the exceptions in the statute.
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information for any purpose that would engage this right.
Be treated equally afterwards. Exercising a right never costs you access, speed or content here.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Open the consent tool from the footer of any page and turn off advertising and personalization. Because the instruction is stored on the device and browser you used, repeat it on each browser you read us in, and again after you clear cookies.

We also respect the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or an extension sends it, we read it as a valid opt-out for that browser and you need do nothing further.

We do not knowingly sell or share personal information belonging to anyone under sixteen. An authorized agent may act for you with written permission, and we may confirm the request with you directly.

Other United States Privacy Laws

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states with comparable statutes hold similar rights to access, correct, delete, port and opt out of targeted advertising. Use the same address and say which right you want. If we turn a request down, you can appeal by replying to our decision and we will answer the appeal in writing.

Children

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under thirteen. If you think a child has sent us something, write to [email protected] and it will be deleted.

Security

Pages are served over encrypted connections, and access to the mailboxes and publishing system is limited to the people who need it and protected by strong authentication. No system is flawless and we will not pretend otherwise, which is part of why we keep the amount of personal data involved in reading a recipe deliberately small.

We link to manufacturers, research and reference material because it is useful. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, governed by their notice and not by this one.

Changes

Material changes are reflected here with a new date at the top, and where the change affects how personal data is used we will ask for consent again through the consent tool. Earlier versions are available on request.
